Indrajit Srivastava (Assistant Professor)
Indrajit moved from Champaign, IL to Lubbock, TX to start as an Assistant Professor at Texas Tech University and fulfill his life-long dream of running his own research lab. In his free time, Indrajit likes watching and playing soccer, and he is an ardent Arsenal football club fan who are current English Premier League Champions and UEFA Champions League Finalists.

Asma Harun (MechE PhD Candidate)
Asma is an international student from Bangladesh. She did her undergraduate in Bangladesh from University of Dhaka majoring in Physics (2019). She did her M.S. with thesis (2023) at Texas Tech University (TTU) in Physics. Asma started her PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering in the Fall of 2023. Asma loves travelling a lot, mountain hiking, trekking, and camping on her vacations. In the Srivastava Lab, Asma will be using modeling and experimental tools work on designing protein-based nanocarriers for image-guided surgery.

Md. Hasnat Rashid (MechE PhD Candidate)
Hasnat, an international student from Bangladesh, completed his Bachelor of Science in Glass & Ceramic Engineering from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET) in 2023. He started his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering in Fall 2024, working in the Srivastava Lab. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, hiking, playing cricket, table tennis, and watching soccer. Hasnat is a passionate fan of Chelsea Football Club. In the Srivastava Lab, Hasnat will develop SERS nanosensors for exosome detection and diagnostics.

Mahenour Megahed (MechE PhD Student)
Mahenour is an international student from Cairo, Egypt. She did her Bachelor’s in clinical pharmacy at Zagazig University (2021) and Master’s in Pharmaceutical Technology at the German University in Cairo (2023).
Outside of academics she loves traveling, visiting historical places ( with her favorite place being Temple of Luxor ), and watching Kdramas. In the Srivastava Lab, Mahy will be developing and designing architecture-tuned phenolic poly(acid)-based nanocarriers for delivering nanotherapeutics.Favorite TV Series: Sherlock Holmes

Isabella Vasquez (Biochem Undergrad & Barry Goldwater Scholar)
Isabella is a native Houstonian and is in her senior year at Texas Tech University. Isabella is an honors Biochemistry major, minoring in Forensics Science on a Pre-PhD track. Isabella loves science, but in her free time likes to paint, hike, garden, and play with her dogs. In the Srivastava Lab, as a Barry Goldwater Scholar, Isabella will continue to develop biomimetic lipid nanoparticles and use them for image-guided visualization of pan-ovarian cancers.

Itzel De Leon (MechE Undergrad & URS Scholar)
Itzel was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She is a junior mechanical engineering major and is also pursuing a minor in aerospace engineering at Texas Tech University. Outside of engineering; Itzel likes to draw, play guitar, hang out with friends, and working out. In the Srivastava Lab, Itzel will be making 3D-printed tumor-mimicking phantoms for aiding fluorescence-guided fluorescence interventions.

Kaylee Herrera (Microbio Undergrad & URS Scholar)
Kaylee Herrera is a sophmore in the Honors College pursuing a degree in microbiology on the pre-med track. She is from from Cypress, Texas and in her spare time, likes to read, spend time with friends, go to concerts, and play video games. Kaylee has two furry friends back home, her dog named Eevee, whose name was inspired by the Pokémon, and an old grumpy cat named Rocko. In the Srivastava Lab, Kaylee will collaborate with others to develop phenolic poly(acid)-based nanocarriers for delivering nanotherapeuticss.

Victoria Vargas (ChemE Undergrad & URS Scholar)
Victoria was born and raised in El Paso, Texas, and is a sophomore Chemical Engineering major at Texas Tech University, with minors in Bioengineering and Mathematics. When she’s taking a break from engineering, she enjoys going out to eat, listening to music, and working out. In the Srivastava Lab, Victoria is developing 3D blood clot models to evaluate in-house nanoprobes for clot visualization and therapeutic applications.

Alan Ramirez (Biology Undergrad & CISER Scholar)
Alan is a junior biology student who was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Alan is on the pre-med track, minoring in chemistry and health professions. In his free time, he loves to spend time with his friends, family, parrots, and dog, and he enjoys competing in races. In the Srivastava Lab, Alan will be developing phospholipid coated gold nano clusters for NIR-II bioimaging of lung cancer.

Ellie Chong (High School, Clark Scholar)
Ellie is a rising senior in high school and born and raised in Dallas, Texas. She is a 2026 Clark Summer Scholar. Ellie is interested in studying biomedical engineering and biochemistry. Besides science, she enjoys running cross country and track (hurdles!), painting with watercolors, playing the piano, and baking desserts. In the Srivastava Lab, Ellie will be working on 3D-printed tumor-mimicking phantoms for aiding fluorescence-guided fluorescence interventions.

Raaghav Nandana (High School)
Raaghav Nandana is a rising senior at Lubbock High School fascinated by molecular biology and computational pathology. When he isn't begging for data to feed his AI model, you can find him hoarding artisan soap, lamenting Ferrari's latest strategy decisions, or building a replica of a mountain out of yoga mats with his friends. In the Srivastava Lab, Raaghav will be using design of experiment (DOE) approach by designing lipid nanoparticles for next-generation delivery of thrombolytics.
