Postdoctoral Researchers
The Srivastava Lab is not currently hiring postdoctoral researchers. However, individuals with their independent funding or those planning to apply for postdoctoral funding opportunities (e.g., AHA) are encouraged to contact Dr. Srivastava to explore potential collaboration opportunities.

Undergraduate Students
The Srivastava Lab welcomes undergraduate researchers without prior research experience or specialized knowledge in a specific field. That said, research can be demanding, and our work often involves exploring untested ideas, which may take time to yield results, if they do at all. For this reason, successful undergraduate researchers tend to be self-driven, curious, eager to learn, open to setbacks, and able to dedicate sufficient time to their projects. Additionally, all members are expected to contribute positively to the lab environment and treat others with respect, as these values are central to our work culture. We are constantly recruiting undergraduate students from different majors at TTU (Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biological Sciences, Chemistry). More information can be found below.

Isabella ‘Bella’ Vasquez developed these slides to share her personal experience as an undergraduate researcher in the Srivastava Lab. She offers practical advice on time management, scientific reading, laboratory notebook practices, asking questions, responding to feedback, and adapting when research does not proceed as expected.
The slides also trace Bella’s growth and accomplishments over three years in the lab, including publications, conference presentations, research awards, mentoring experiences, and first-author opportunities. Her experience illustrates what can become possible when an undergraduate consistently invests substantial time, effort, curiosity, and responsibility in research. These outcomes are not automatic, but they demonstrate the opportunities students can work toward through sustained engagement in the lab.
